Red Team Blazing away
Wow what a night for the Red Team
Second in the table and away to third place Purbrook Maroon who trail by just 2 points, but with a game in hand over LPBC. The green was very dry and all rinks started slowly apart from the usually strong rink 1 who just couldn’t find length or line and soon found themselves 1-12 down after 6 ends. Rinks 2 and 3 were coping better and leading their rinks at the same point.
As the game progressed rink 2 went behind 13-16 on the 17th end and rink 3 level 19-19 on the 19th end after having had an 8 point lead. Rink 1 got to 11-17 down with 6 ends to go. At the end Rink 2 racked up 11 on the last 4 ends winning 24-16, rink 3 took 2 on the last end to win 21-20 so all rested on the very last end on rink 1. 12 ends without scoring through the match found them 14-24 and the aggregate score was 59-60
The tension was palpable, but eased as rink 1 gained 2 enormous points on that last end to secure the overall aggregate of 61-60 and winning 2-1 rinks giving 10 massive points to 2 over Purbrook Maroon and giving a little bit of breathing space above third place.
So it’s a home match next on Monday to Gas Social – support from the gallery would be appreciated so come down 6pm and give the Red team your backing.
